MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) โ Garrett Mitchell recorded an RBI base hit and scored on a home run later in the game to lift the Brewers to a 3-2 win over Cincinnati on Friday.
Mitchell opened the scoring in the second on a line drive to left field, scoring Sal Frelick. He led off the 5th inning with a double and then came home on a two-run home run by Brice Turang, giving Milwaukee a 3-0 lead.
Things got tight in the 8th when the Reds cut the lead to a single run after a sac fly and an RBI double, but Joel Payamps got Jake Fraley to end the inning on a groundout with the tying run on first base.
Mitchell led the Brewers with two hits and an RBI. Rhys Hoskins recorded two walks. Starter Tyler Alexander earned the win after pitching 5.2 innings and not allowing a hit.
Abner Uribe earned a hold in 1.1 innings of relief. Trevor Megill struck out one in the 9th, earning his first save of the season.
Milwaukee is now 4-4 on the season. The same two teams will play game three of this four-game set tonight, pregame coverage begins at 5:35 on WSAU.
