STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Stevens Point man accused of stabbing a 71-year-old outside the Portage County Library is scheduled for trial later this year.
Frank Jackson was in court on Monday where a judge blocked off two dates for a 12-person jury trial in November or December.
The 29-year-old is said to have taken a loan from the victim earlier in the day. He returned to ask for another loan and was denied.
Jackson allegedly became confrontational and was kicked out of the library. Investigators say he returned later in the day with a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.
The man suffered a punctured lung but survived. Jackson and the unidentified victim were said to have known each other.

The first set of dates runs from November 19th to the 22nd. The second set of dates begins on December 16th and runs through the 20th.
A scheduling date has been set for May 22nd. Jackson, who has no listed home address, faces up to life in prison if found guilty of the attempted homicide charge alone. He has entered a not guilty plea for the charges and is being held on a $1 million bond.
