WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A new trial date has been scheduled for a former Wisconsin Rapids High School Counselor accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a teen.
Christopher Bondioli will face trial for two counts of child enticement and two counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff from July 16th through the 18th. He also faces a misdemeanor count for resisting or obstructing an officer.
School officials were alerted to a potentially inappropriate relationship between a staffer and a student through another employee in late 2021. Officers then received text messages and other details from the victim, which led them to arrest Bondioli.
Bondioli resigned in early 2022 after the allegations came to light. He pled not guilty to the charges in November 2022.
The 51-year-old had been scheduled for trial in mid-September. But court records show that’s been moved after the Judge ruled that the matter should go to trial sooner.
Trial dates had originally been scheduled around Attorney Michael Coehen’s calendar. He had been representing Bondioli but withdrew from the case last fall.
He faces up to 62 years in the state prison system if found guilty. A final pretrial conference is scheduled for June 18th.
Bondioli is free on a $5,000 bond with several conditions including no contact with anyone under 18 except his own children and a full no-contact order with any Wisconsin Rapids school district buildings.
