WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Fire Department and Wisconsin Department of Justice- Division of Criminal Investigation will conduct live fire training on a home near Bridge Street this week.
According to a news release from the city they’ll conduct firefighting and investigative training on a home located at 1514 North Second Street beginning Monday. The exercises are expected to last three days.
Crews will get a rare first-hand look at fire patterns and behaviors as part of the training while also practicing rescue techniques by conducting controlled burns in individual rooms of the structure.
The structure has undergone rigorous testing and site prep to ensure firefighter and civilian safety. That includes asbestos removal and permitting from the Wisconsin DNR.
During that time the Wisconsin State Patrol and Wausau Police Department will conduct traffic control on the streets around the property. Drivers should expect delays or plan alternate routes for the three-day training.
